LHM’s Lexie Leads New Cardiac Youth Worker Group

Our Head of Youth Services Lexie has recently seen a great increase in the number of youth workers placed into post within the cardiac community.

‘During the 7 years I have worked at Little Hearts Matter I have seen many youth workers join the cardiac community in both third sector and NHS roles. It is great to see youth work being recognised as the skilled profession that it is.’

As the cardiac youth worker roles grew it became clear that the individual youth workers could work together to discuss trends, support one another, discuss best practise and aim to lend their professional voice to arenas of change. In order to do this Lexie set up the ‘Cardiac Youth Worker Group’. A group of professional youth workers from Little Hearts Matter, Echo, BHF, Youth@Heart, Cardiomyopathy UK, Marfan Trust and various NHS trusts.

Aiming to meet quarterly via zoom there is the scope to support one another whilst they support young people with cardiac conditions across the UK and identify challenges that they can support as a group.
This is a new group but we are excited to see where this can lead.
