”PGl 2018 was one of my favourite experiences…the three of us had so much I common” – Imaan 13yrs Activity Weekend Story

Hello, My name is Imaan Aziz, thirteen years old, with Hypoplastic Right Heart Condition.

PGl 2018 was one of my favourite experiences… we did everything from quadbiking to campfires. I met many amazing, spirited people. People who could really relate to me and understood what I go through.

”People who could really relate to me and understood what I go through.”

When I arrived at the camp, I was welcomed by a young girl, with the same condition as me, called Daisy- by the end of day 1 we were inseparable! Later on came Sophie… the three of us had so much I common- birthdays in March, crazy Harry potter fans and similar medical problems.

When our parents left we got talking… the chemistry was great, we got on so well. We talked about medication, how others react when they know you have half a heart and the difficulties and differences with our condition.

The next three days were packed with exciting activities. High swings, archery, rifle shooting and dave! Quadbiking was one of my favourites, but nothing can beat Smores and cheesy songs at the campfire! Overall my experience at Carthrope PGL was incredible!

    Social Media Support

Single ventricle conditions are so rare that many of our families do not know anyone else locally who is facing the same challenges. Through our private social media groups and the LHM newsletter, we are able to link our members with other heart families across the UK.

This gives them a chance to keep up to date with the charity and connect with other parents going through similar experiences. We also offer one-to-one chat support through Facebook messenger, we always have an ear to listen and we’d love to hear from you ❤️
