Summing It Up is a Little Hearts Matter initiative to help raise awareness of the needs of a child with a heart condition in school.

Over the past ten years the LHM team have worked to create a tool box of information that parents and teachers can use to gain a greater understanding of the needs of a child  with a single ventricle heart condition in school. Age appropriate booklets, advice about accessing Healthcare Plans, added support for educational needs as well as individual advice and support have been welcomed by families throughout the country. However, families have expressed a need for a bit more help ensuring that school teams really understand their child’s heart condition.

The Summing It Up project is a collection of new ways to raise a greater awareness with teachers, school staff and ultimately other pupils, helping to ensure that children with half a heart achieve their full potential.

Having had a great deal of time in lockdown, our fitness is not as good as it could be. It is traditional that in the New Year we all make a decision to improve our fitness and set ourselves a new challenge.

It would be amazing if our supporters could take up a challenge and raise much needed funds for LHM in 2021.

We have a created a list of all sorts of challenges spread through the year and across the country and links to organisers who can help you to create or join a task. LHM have places in a number of events so that might be a good place to start. Making up teams to take place in events would be amazing.

What challenge could you set yourself this year?
