Raise a Smile is LHM’s Christmas fundraising campaign which aims to raise £8,000 so we can provide our Fontan support package in 2018. Watch the video here:
This Christmas, Little Hearts Matter wants you to raise a smile on the face of a child with half a heart.
Every year, nearly 200 children with half a working heart have a major heart operation called the Fontan procedure. This is their third operation in their very young lives; the objective of the Fontan is to give the child as much energy that half a heart will allow.
Little Hearts Matter wants to offer its “Fontan support package” to all 200 children in 2018 and we’re asking you to raise enough money for us to do this. The Fontan package includes:
· An award-winning booklet explaining the operation and what to expect from the operation before, during and after the Fontan procedure
· One to one advice from qualified and experienced experts via our phoneline, e-mail support
· Access to support groups through social media, events and presentations · Booklets such as “Preparing for Hospital”.
· After every child’s Fontan procedure, LHM aim to send a balloon to them to arrive once they are in the ward post-operation.
This balloon as mum, Freya Stangroom says, can make a huge difference: “the balloon we received was a wonderful gesture and we all were delighted to receive it. It’s the first time Erin (Freya’s daughter) has smiled in weeks and it’s amazing to know you’re thinking of us and we’re not alone.”
So, please, this Christmas, donate as much as you can to our appeal and raise a smile of a half a heart child when they need it most.
