Dear Member

Re: Little Hearts Matter AGM and Open Day, Saturday 21st November 2020 – Online Meeting

Single Ventricle Heart Disease Choices and the Covid-19 Pathway

We hope that this letter finds you and your family well and that you are all coping with the advice you have been given for keeping safe during the Covid-19 crisis. Please remember that the LHM team are always here if you need our help

The LHM team have been working hard to keep up with the advice given by both Government and the Congenital Heart medical teams. It is difficult to predict how the country will open up everyday services as the summer progresses, but we are fairly sure that there will be safeguards in place for some time, especially relating to mass gathering style events.

Whilst we understand that our members love to get together at our events, we equally feel that holding a face-to-face Open Day in November may not be fair or safe for our families. For example, our venue team are still unable to say how they will be able to maintain the 2-metre distancing rules, and the rule as it stands would mean that we would have to cut down the number of members who could attend which would significantly impact the event’s usual friendly and inclusive feel.

We’re therefore saddened to once again be having to take a decision over our annual event, however, fear not, we’ve done some thinking and come up with another solution. To ensure that members do not miss hearing our great speakers and to allow the Board of Trustees to hold their AGM, we are planning to create an online version of our annual conference, for the children, teenagers, adults and parent and grandparent members.

We would therefore like to invite you to apply to join the meeting and to take your vote on our annual accounts and the newly proposed or reapplying Trustees. Please follow this link to the event information page and complete the application form. We are looking to hold a parent based meeting in the morning and sessions for the 7 to 10 and another for the teenagers in the afternoon.

Any members unable to join us on the day are still invited to vote, click this link to vote for the AGM resolutions if you will be absent.

We realise this won’t be the same, but we’re determined to find a way to get us all together somehow this year. We’re equally planning to hold a full and exciting Open Day in 2021 so put the 8th of May in your diary. The venue will once again be at The Beeches and invitations for that event will be sent out early next year.

As always, feel free to come back to us if we can help with any questions. We look forward to seeing you virtually in November.

With thanks and best wishes

"Niamh's not feeling 100% today, I asked her if she'd be more comfortable in pyjamas than Jigzy but bless her heart she said "I like to wear this top because it reminds me of the special people like doctors and nurses and Little Hearts who all make me feel better when I don't feel good, so when I wear Jigzy I always smile and it makes me feel better. "Hooray for Jigzy 🥰 xxx"

And hooray for children living with half a working heart today, just like Niamh here.
