Nicky Haselgrove

I am a member of the support line team and area representative for Kent and Sussex. I have 3 teenagers! Stuart is 19, Sarah is 17 and has HLHS, then there's Holly who is 14.

Sarah had a very difficult start to life spending most of the first 2 years in hospital. Her surgery has not followed the Norwood procedure as she had additional problems with her heart. Sarah has had a mitral valve replacement and has a bi-ventricular pacemaker fitted amongst her 18 operations.

Sarah is now doing well medically and despite everything is doing very well at mainstream school. Sarah takes her first GCSE this year and is expected to do well when she takes the rest next year.

Sarah has spoken for the Charity at the House of Lords and at the Open Day. Sarah loves attending the teenage activity weekends organised by BHF (as parents don't go), she also does carriage driving and loves singing.
