Following his Fontan in March, 5 year old Louie managed to achieve something he could never have hoped of before his operation; completing a mini triathlon.
Throughout a day Louie and his classmates did 10 widths of the swimming pool, 10 laps of the playground on bikes and scooters and 2 laps of the school field.
The whole class really got involved and the final count up after they had swum, run and cycled their way to the finish line came to an amazing £500.
Louie’s mum Abigail explains,
“Louie's school has been very supportive this year as he went through his third stage of surgery in March. He was in hospital for 7 weeks in total and is currently doing really well. He would never have been able to participate in anything like that pre-op; he wouldn't even get in a swimming pool as he had a fear of water. But when he returned to school following his op he had so much more confidence. It really was a memorable day... I was very proud!”
Well done to Louie and all his friends at Hampton Dene Primary School for all your hard work.
